Data Tree’s Policy Regarding Redaction Of Social Security Numbers

Data Tree, LLC provides businesses that are associated with the real estate and lending industries with access to critical and essential publicly recorded property documents. Data Tree provides such access by obtaining copies of these public records as they were recorded with each county recording authority.

If these documents meet certain minimum requirements, county recording authorities are generally required to publicly record them without regard to actual content. As a result, publicly recorded documents sometimes contain sensitive personal information, most notably social security numbers. With some exceptions (e.g., federal tax liens), however, there is generally no legal requirement for the inclusion of such information as a condition of recording.

As a leading provider of publicly recorded property documents, Data Tree is committed to the privacy and protection of our customers and consumers. We are currently implementing a voluntary redaction process that will in most cases conceal all but the last four digits of individual social security numbers on publicly recorded documents available through Data Tree. We believe that such efforts reflect best practices to enhance and improve corporate responsibility, as well as to provide a valuable service to our customers and consumers.

As a result of these efforts, you may occasionally experience a brief delay when retrieving certain documents. We appreciate your patience and ongoing support throughout this process.

For questions regarding Data Tree’s Policy Regarding Redaction Of Social Security Numbers, please contact Customer Support at 800.221.2056.

Effective as of January 23, 2007.
